CUE Platform Update: SOC 2 Compliance, a Rebuilt Polling Mania, and Light Show Freestyle Mode

CUE is now SOC 2 compliant. This release also features a rebuilt Polling Mania with on-demand gameplay and a redesigned setup experience, plus Freestyle Mode for Light Show, which gives operators live control of a synchronized smartphone light show from desktop or mobile. Five more features are in development, including AI-powered Smart Skinning and a centralized Client Dashboard.

What is new in the CUE Platform?

  • SOC 2 Compliance. An independent audit of how CUE handles customer and fan data. It shortens security and procurement review for teams, venues, and brand partners.
  • Polling Mania, rebuilt. A redesigned setup experience, on-demand gameplay, and a cleaner operator interface. Polls can be built faster and launched in the moment instead of on a fixed run of show.
  • Light Show Freestyle Mode. Live operator control of a synchronized smartphone light show, from desktop or mobile. The Light Show can follow the game or the set instead of a pre-programmed cue sheet.

What does SOC 2 compliance mean for a team or venue?

SOC 2 is an independent audit standard from the AICPA that examines how a company secures and handles customer data across five trust services criteria: security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality, and privacy. A third-party auditor tests the controls rather than taking the company's word for them.

For a team, venue, or rights holder, CUE's SOC 2 compliance means the fan data moving through an activation is governed by controls an outside auditor has reviewed. In practice that does two things:

  1. It speeds up procurement. Security questionnaires and legal review are usually the longest part of onboarding a new fan engagement vendor. A completed SOC 2 report answers most of that in one document.
  2. It protects the data you actually own. Every PostUp submission, poll vote, and contest entry is opted-in first-party data collected at your venue and owned by you. The security standard applied to it should match the value of it.

What changed in Polling Mania?

Polling Mania is CUE's real-time audience voting product. Fans scan, vote, and watch results update live on the videoboard. This release rebuilt three parts of it.

Redesigned setup experience. Building a poll is now a shorter path with fewer screens between writing the question and having it ready to run.

On-demand gameplay. Polls no longer have to sit on a fixed timeline. An operator can hold a poll in reserve and fire it when the moment shows up, a controversial call, an unexpected scoring run, a crowd that is already loud and looking for somewhere to put it.

A cleaner interface. Less hunting during a live event, when the operator has about ten seconds of attention to spare.

The practical effect is that polling moves from a scheduled promotion to a reactive one. This is the same shift Freestyle Mode brings to Light Show.

What is Light Show Freestyle Mode?

CUE's Light Show turns a crowd's smartphones into one synchronized display. Most shows today run web based: fans scan a QR code, no app download, and their screens and flashlights sync into a single crowd-wide effect. Audio-triggered sync, which carries the signal through sound, is also available for setups that call for it. It is the product CUE is best known for.

Freestyle Mode adds live operator control. Instead of running a light show that was programmed and locked before doors, an operator can drive it in real time from a desktop or mobile device: change flash patterns, start and stop, and match what is happening on the ice, field, or the stage.

That matters most in the moments nobody scripts. A power play. An encore. A comeback in the fourth quarter. Those are the moments a light show should be built around, and until now they were the hardest ones to hit.

What is coming next to the CUE Platform?

Five features are in development.

  • Fanatic Filters Hand Tracking. Track fans' hands for more dynamic AR effects and interactive gameplay.
  • Smart Skinning. AI-powered graphics that instantly theme and brand an activation.
  • Look-A-Like Cam. Matches a live fan shot or a submitted image with players, mascots, or custom characters.
  • Client Dashboard. Centralized participation and activation insights in one place.
  • PostUp Face Fusion. AI-generated fan videos that create personalized, shareable content.

Client Dashboard is the one worth flagging for anyone reporting to a sponsor or a CMO. Participation data currently lives per activation. Pulling it into one view makes season-long reporting a lot less manual.

Why this all sits on one platform?

Most teams run fan engagement across a stack of vendors, which means the data lands in a stack of places and nobody owns the whole picture.

CUE is built as a single platform so that:

  • The data is yours. Fan submissions and votes are opted-in first-party data, captured in your venue, owned by you, not rented back from a vendor.
  • Configurations are flexible. Layouts, board sizes, and setups can be swapped on the fly, including during an event.
  • Fans become part of the show. This is the point of all of it. Everything above is in service of a fan seeing themselves, or something they did, on the big screen.
